Any plant of the genus Angophora (family Myrtaceae), comprising evergreen trees and shrubs native to eastern Australia, having opposite leaves, inflorescences consisting of five-petalled whitish flowers with numerous long stamens, and fruits which are cup-shaped ribbed capsules. Also (in form Angophora): the genus itself.

Early 19th century; earliest use found in James Edward Smith (1759–1828), botanist. From scientific Latin Angophora, genus name from ancient Greek ἄγγος jar + -ϕόρος bearing + scientific Latin -a.
