  • Any of several Acts of Parliament passed after the Jacobite risings of 1715 and 1745 prohibiting the unauthorized possession or use of weaponry by anyone in the Scottish Highlands.

    Disarming Acts were passed in 1716, 1725, and 1746, and were repealed in 1782. The 1746 Act (enforced from 1747) was officially called the Act of Proscription.
