The philosophy of extropians; the belief that cultural and technological development tends to oppose, and will overcome, entropy.
The Extropy Institute, founded in California in 1988, has defined seven Extropian Principles which codify the philosophy. They are: perpetual progress, self-transformation, practical optimism, intelligent technology, open society, self-direction, and rational thinking.
