Little Entente


  • An alliance existing from 1920 to 1938 between Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Yugoslavia (as then constituted); the group of states in this alliance.


1920s; earliest use found in Weekly Review. Named in contradistinction to the earlier alliance between the larger powers of Great Britain, France, and Russia known as the triple entente, perhaps immediately after French Petite Entente.
