Church Estates Commissioner

  • A lay official appointed to oversee the management of the property of the Church of England.

    There are currently three Church Estates Commissioners, known as First, Second, and Third respectively. They are members of the Assets Committee of the Church Commission; formerly they were members of the Ecclesiastical Commission. Two are appointed by the Crown, and one by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
