  • The poxvirus (genus Leporipoxvirus) that is the cause of myxomatosis in the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus).

    The natural hosts are certain American rabbits of the genus Sylvilagus, in which the virus causes a mild disease with localized tumours.
