  • A series of unsaturated aliphatic acids of the general formula Cₙ H₂ₙ₋₁ COOH, in which there is a chain of carbon atoms containing one double bond.

    The first acids of the series are acrylic (propenoic) acid, crotonic (butenoic) acid, and angelic and tiglic acids (pentenoic acids).
