  • 1British (in the House of Lords) any of a small number of questions, marked with an asterisk in the order paper, which are asked and answered orally at the beginning of a sitting (now more formally called oral question).

  • 2(In either House of the Indian Parliament) a question tabled to be answered orally on the floor of the House, during the daily Question Hour set aside for this purpose.
