The transitive verb to like is most commonly translated using the intransitive verb gustar + an indirect personal pronoun:


  •  I like wine = me gusta el vino
  •  we like the house = nos gusta la casa
  •  I like apples = me gustan las manzanas
  •  we like apples = nos gustan las manzanas


If the full indirect object is mentioned, the indirect object pronoun must still be included:


  •  my father doesn’t like traveling = a mi padre no le gusta viajar


The translation of do you like it? is simply ¿te gusta?
